Britain With Most Number of Children Fatter Than Their Parents

Britain has the largest number of children who are already fatter than their parents.

According to new statistics, there are more obese 11-year-olds than adults in 22 areas in Britain.

Obese 7-9-year-old children had nearly three times the liver fat and almost double the belly fat of their nonobese counterparts

Westminster in central London is at the top of the list with 28.6 percent children more obese than their parents, closely followed by Southwark in southeast London with 26 percent and Newham in east London with 25.9 percent.

Other areas where children are fatter than adults include South Holland in Lincolnshore, Watford, Oxford and Wolverhampton.

"This is storing up problems for the future," the Daily Star quoted Tam Fry of the National Obesity Forum as saying.

Almost half of British men and 4 in 10 women could be obese within 20 years, according to a study published in the Lancet Journal.

"If you are obese at the age of 10 and still obese at 25, your chance of an early death trebles," Fry added.
