Brit Primary School Under Probe Due To Noise Pollution

by Aruna on Jul 23 2009 3:59 PM

A probe for noise pollution was ordered into a Brit Primary school after locals complained about kids' laughter, say reports.

Council inspectors heard of the complaints of an "unbearable" din at playtimes, and carried out tests to see whether it exceeded World Health Organization limits.

Besides the noise being made by kids, there were also complains about a PE teacher's booming voice and the sound of football games at SS Osmund and Andrew's Primary in Bolton.

"We can't sit outside or open windows," the Sun quoted disgruntled Bill Disley, who lives yards away, as saying.

A Bolton Council spokesman said that the racket "does not constitute a statutory noise nuisance".

"It's good to hear children enjoying their lives," School Head John Thorpe added.
