Brit Doctors Remove Football-Sized Tumor from Woman’s Neck
Doctors in Britain conducted a successful surgery to remove a massive tumor, the size of a football, from the neck of a 79-year old woman.
Joyce Haigh reportedly lived with the huge tumor in her neck for more than 20 years and said that though she should have done something about it sooner, she was afraid to go to the doctors. However as the tumor continued to grow in size over the years, her husband, nephews and nieces started to get worried and she finally decided to consult a doctor.

She visited the Doncaster Royal Infirmary in October where Dr Muhamad Quraishi, who performed the surgery, said that he has never seen such a massive tumor, thought to be the largest ever reported in the UK, in his 20-year career.

“In the whole of my 20-year medical career, I can honestly say that I have never seen or treated such a massive tumor. The operation itself was quite challenging and I am happy with the outcome and that the operation was a complete success. I have since found out that Joyce’s lump is the largest to have been removed from somebody’s head or neck at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals and the largest ever reported in UK”, Dr Quraishi said.
