State Bank of India’s Pinkathon, empowering Indian Women, completed its successful 2nd edition run in the Chennai on the Island Grounds on April 12.
Over 15,000 women took part in Pinkathon to create awareness of breast cancer and promote health and fitness among women.

P.S. Prakash Rao, chief general manager, SBI Chennai Circle, said, “women should be aware of the key aspects of healthcare. Pinkathon is a seed for change. It is the beginning of a movement by a community of women who share the belief that a healthy family, a healthy nation and a healthy world begins with the empowerment of women.”

Super model Milind Soman, Founder of Pinkathon, before flagging off the run, said, “ This is more than just a marathon. The seed of change has been successfully sown. It is the beginning of a movement carried forward by a growing community of empowered women across India, who share a belief that a healthy family, a healthy nation and a healthy world begins with empowered women.”

The first step in women empowerment is taking control of health; respecting, understanding and celebrating the value of women in family and society, said Soman.

Participants dressed white and pink outfit participated enthusiastically in the 3, 5, 10 and 21 kilometer categories. Medical check-up, breast health counseling and free mammograms for all participants above the age 45 were also organized.
