Brand Name Influences Lipstick Choice

 Brand Name Influences Lipstick Choice
Majority of women select a brand of lipstick not for its packaging or color but because of its name, according to a new study by researchers at University of Oregon.
The researchers also found that a large number of people usually select lipsticks that bear names which are associated with food items or sex.

The researchers tabulated more than 1,700 lipsticks manufactured by 52 brands and found that some of the most popular lipsticks bear names such as Triple Chocolate Parfait and Hot Mama while those associated with birds and animals were the least favored.

“The findings show, beyond simple color names, that most of the lipsticks are named after food, beverages, sex, and romance”, lead researcher Professor Debra Merskin said.
