 Brain-Dead Youth Gave New Lease of Life to Five Individuals
Harinath, a student of Sri Chaitanya Junior College at NAD Kotha Road in Visakhapatnam, met with an accident at Jodugullapalem in Sabbavaram mandal two days ago while riding a two-wheeler and suffered serious injuries to his brain and chest.
He was rushed to the King George Hospital and from there to Indus Hospital and his family members were told that he might not survive. He was declared brain dead at the Indus Hospital and was shifted to the Manipal Hospital for organ harvesting.

Harinath's family consisting of his grandfather M Appala Naidu and mother Pushpalatha and their uncle were aware of organ donation through the media and selflessly volunteered to donate Harinath's organs.

With an appeal from Jeevandan Trust, which campaigns for organ donation of brain dead persons, the family members agreed to donate the organs of their child.

Arrangements are being made to send eyes to Benguluru and heart to Chennai, the eyes were donated to Mohsin Eye Bank, the liver and one kidney to Care Hospitals in Visakhapatnam and one kidney has been transplanted at Manipal Hospitals.

Sources said Harinadh lost his father in a road accident, when he was around three years of age. His mother M Pushpalatha has been leading life with her three children and shifted to the city from Sabbavaram.
