A new study published in the journal of Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology suggests that boys enjoy the effects of caffeine more than girls.

The researchers found that not only did the boys experience a greater kick from caffeine than the girls, they also displayed a positive effect on their athletic ability while boys who drank more caffeine had higher blood pressure compared to boys who did not drink caffeine.
“Caffeine is known to increase blood pressure, but the fact that it caused an exaggerated response in high-consuming males was a surprise, since at the time of measurement the amount of caffeine consumed by boys and girls was the same. We are hoping that our findings from studies on caffeine will help us determine why males and females differ in susceptibility to drug abuse”, Temple said.
