Botox may Reduce Intensity of Tremors in MS
A new study published in the journal Neurology reveals that Botox injections may be effective in providing some relief from tremors caused by multiple sclerosis.
Botox, or Botulinum toxin type A, has quickly branched from being an anti aging treatment and is used in treating chronic migraine and excessive sweating. Botox is also used to treat certain symptoms of multiple sclerosis, such overactive bladder and muscles spasms in the arms.

The researchers tested the effectiveness of Botox in reducing arm tremors, which affect two thirds of MS patients, and found that giving Botox injections to MS patients reduces the intensity of arm tremors and improve their writing ability.

“Most patients tolerate the injections very well and are keen to continue the treatment once they see the benefits they get from it”, lead researcher Dr Anneke van der Walt from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia, said.
