The British Medical Association has warned the British government that the wide range of reforms currently under consideration could prove to be very damaging

Dr Meldrum’s view were concurred by Shadow Health Secretary John Healey who claimed that the reforms will put extra and unnecessary pressure on the NHS.
“It’s a huge upheaval which will put unnecessary extra pressure on the NHS and could open up all parts of the NHS to competition from private health companies. The Health Secretary has not listened to warnings from health experts, professional bodies or patient groups, and is set to force through these changes”, Healey said.
