Blood was Donated by Minors, Says Report

A committee under additional collector N P Swami and chief medical and health officer Dr K K Bajaj has confirmed that some of the blood donors in Chomu were underage although their age is mentioned as 18 in the forms.

"Prima facie it appears that blood donation by minors had taken place in Chomu. The school authorities and medical teams were aware of the fact. There have also been statements that suggest that some of the school staff was present at the camp," an official at the collectorate told The Times of India.

The whole issue exploded into limelight after a 15-year-old who donated blood at the camp fell ill. The fact that Bhagwan Sahay Saini, the local Congress MLA was present on the occasion has added to the politics.

Action is likely to be taken after a case was ordered to be registered against the MLA, school staff and those health officials by the court.
