Blood Donation Battle Kickstarted Between Michigan and Ohio State Universities
On November 1, the 34-year blood battle between the University of Michigan and Ohio- state university has been initiated this year. The blood donation drive called "Be a Hero at the Big House" will be conducted at the Michigan stadium.
The event sponsored by the American Red Cross provides opportunities to donate blood and also register as an organ donor. Public is also invited to donate blood and also bone marrow at the massive drive.

It is a free event and all blood donors will get a free Red Cross Blood Battle t-shirt, a coupon for $5 off a $30 purchase at Busch's Market along with games, prizes and a VIP view of the Big House.

“The competition really helps motivate fans to donate blood at an important time of year. It provides a much needed boost for the blood supply as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches," said Angie Bermudez, communications manager for the American Red Cross.

At last year's event, more than 340 pints of blood were collected, making it the largest blood drive ever on the U-M campus. Organizers this year hope to top that record.
