Best Way to Surmount Post-holiday Blues

by Savitha C Muppala on Jan 5 2010 3:11 PM

After holidays, some of us just cannot get ourselves back to work without feeling down. Here are some of the best ways to beat those post-holiday blues.

Motivational speaker Craig Harper recommends starting the day with some exercise mixed with a positive attitude and getting on with it.

"Go back to work and make the most of it. If you go to work with a good attitude, you'll have a good day," The Age quoted him as saying.

"Be that person who tries to find the good, choose to have a good day and choose to make the most of opportunities," he added.

The expert continued: "Most people will resolve to address various issues in their life, whether they be fitness, health or habits. The reality is 80 per cent of people end up giving up on their resolutions by February 14.

"Basically unless we want to find ourselves back in the same spot..it's really important that we find a way of staying focused and keeping committed to our resolutions."

Psychologist Dr Elizabeth Allworth also said: "Just throw yourself into it. Part of it is just readjusting your mindset, thinking about what it is that you've got to do for the short-term, maybe setting some goals."
