While fish oil supplements have been recommended since hundreds of years as a good way to keep your heart healthy, its exact benefits have been inconclusive.
Now another study has suggested that the omega-3 acids present in fish oil do not provide any protection for people who already have a preexisting heart condition.
The study was conducted by researchers from South Korea who used data from 14 different studies involving more than 20,000 people who were already suffering from cardiovascular disease and were also taking fish oil supplements.
The researchers found that in spite of taking the supplements for more than a year, it did not reduce the risk of another heart attack among the participants. The study, led by Dr Sang Mi Kwak, has been published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
