Being Busy Cited as Cause for Not Exercising

by Rajashri on Jul 1 2009 9:09 PM

A study by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) has found that most workers are ignoring exercise by citing that they are very busy. One in five of those surveyed exercised just once in a month.

The report also said that women appeared to be less fit than men. Two out of five surveyed said they got out of breath walking up stairs.

"Most people know physical activity is good for their health but when it comes to doing it, exercise simply isn't a priority. Regular physical activity is as important as eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day and people need to understand that you can't keep putting it off. Without sufficient physical activity you increase your risk of life-threatening illnesses," said CSP spokeswoman Bridget Hurley.

The survey also found that many people felt they could lead better lives if they lost some weight.
