Beef Patties Sold in New England Recalled by Company

by VR Sreeraman on Sep 8 2007 1:01 PM

U.S. ground beef producer, Fairbanks Farms, said on Wednesday that it is voluntarily recalling beef patties because of concerns about bacterial contamination sold to Shaw's Supermarkets in New England.

Consumers could have purchased the patties in that area on Wednesday between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m Fairbanks Farms said.

Fairbanks announced that customers might get a full exchange or refund. The patties were shipped to stores in Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, and Massachusetts, but have now been pulled from store shelves.

The meat producer said the patties might have been contaminated with a form of E.coli, a bacterium commonly found in human intestines. Customers with health concerns should contact their physician, the company said.
