David and Victoria Beckham’s son Brooklyn’s former trampoline teacher has been held on suspicion of grooming a 12-year-old girl for sex.
Peter Gledhill had taught Brooklyn somersaults and spins before the family moved to Madrid.A woman complained to the cops that Gledhill was making sinister approaches to her 12-year-old daughter, after which he was taken in for questioning.
However, there is no evidence that he ever targeted 9-year-old Brooklyn, who is living with the ex-England skipper and the Spice Girl in Los Angeles.
Brooklyn had been 4-years-old, when he began his six months lessons at the Phoenix Flyers Trampoline Club in Cheshunt, Herts, in 2003.
“Peter was always anxious to take personal charge of Brooklyn’s training,” The Sun quoted a mum whose child was also there, as saying.
“He was a bit star struck and took every opportunity to talk to David and Victoria.
“Peter was very hands-on and supported kids when they were learning to do twists in the air. It’s a shock to everyone who sent their kids there,” she added.
The police confirmed on March 14 that a woman had accused Gledhill of grooming her daughter for sex and that the 34-year-old man had been arrested and bailed.
Police have taken away computers and hard discs from Gledhill’s home in Walthamstow, East London and possible evidence is also thought to have been found on the girl’s home computer.
Gledhill has refused to issue any comments regarding what has happened.
A spokesman for the Beckhams has also refused to comment on the matter.
“It is not appropriate for us to comment at this stage,” the spokesman said.
