Beards Get Trendy, Facial Hair Transplants on the Rise
Moustaches, sideburns, beards and other facial hair trends are in vogue these days and this has triggered a rise in facial hair transplants.
Facial hair has become a new style among actors, athletes, musicians and men of all ages and professions. Specialist doctors in New York said these days they are witnessing more men who do not shy away from spending for facial hair transplant surgery. They are paying as much as $7,000 to get the beards.

Dr Steven Gabel from Portland, Oregon, said his business in facial hair transplants has seen a surge recently. He said those who opt for transplants usually have beards but get the patches filled up for a better look.

And then there are also patients who do not have facial hair and they go for facial hair transplants. Gabel added that men wanting to follow the beard trend do not belong to the hip category only. “I get coat-and-tie types too. It’s all walks of life.”

The procedure can take the entire day. First, hair strands along with follicles are removed from another part of the body, mostly it’s the bottom of the back of the head. Then each hair is inserted on the face through small holes.

Doctors say the most important point to be kept in mind while inserting back the hair is the angle. They said it should not be sticking out and should be put at correct angle in order to give the natural look.

Gradually the hair grows like a natural beard which can also be shaved. The cost of getting a full beard can be around $10,000. At times men get some temporary redness and itching, but it also heals up soon. The surgery is relatively safe.
