Baby Given Roadside CPR Undergoes Life-Saving Surgery
A five-month old baby, who was given a CPR on the roadside after he had stopped breathing, underwent a surgery in which doctors removed three cysts from his trachea that made it difficult for him to breathe.
Pamela Rauseo was driving on the Dolphin Expressway taking her nephew, Sebastian de la Cruz, to a doctor’s appointment when he suddenly stopped breathing. Pamela stopped the car and started giving him CPR even as she begged others to get help.

Al Diaz, who was driving behind Pamela and a Miami Herald photographer, called for an ambulance and captured images of Pamela giving CPR to her nephew. The doctors later detected the cysts and removed them following a surgery.

“I was driving along the 836 Dolphin Expressway and he was crying. He's always crying. Even when the car is moving, he's constantly crying. We had come to a stop as we were stuck in traffic when suddenly the crying stopped. Everything was dead quiet. I knew something was wrong immediately. I don't know how I remembered what to do. I just knew I couldn't let him die!”, Pamela said.
