Baba Amte Admitted to Hospital for Acute Anemia

Eminent social worker Baba Amte has been admitted to a private hospital here for treatment of acute anemia.

"Baba is stable now following platelets transfusion Friday night," his son Vikas said Saturday.

The ailing, 88-year-old Baba Amte was rushed here Friday from his leprosy rehabilitation centre Anandvan in Warora town of Maharashtra's Chandrapur district after he started losing blood through urine.

"The necessary medical examinations will be done Sunday and Baba will, in all probability, need a bone marrow transplant," Vikas told IANS.
