Welch Allyn is about to release Connex Spot Monitor, a new clinical patient monitor designed for automatic collection of vital signs and sharing of that data with the hospital’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

The Welch Allyn Connex //Spot Monitor is the first device of its kind to offer wireless connectivity specifically for the primary care workflow and to help eliminate errors in patient data entry and simplify connectivity with physician EMR systems.

The Monitor can be used to record the pulse rate, blood pressure, blood oxygenation, as well as body temperature for all patients, from neonates to adults.

Users can easily connect the device to any PC running the practice’s EMR system and transfer vitals directly into the patient’s chart. The connections are wireless and reduces the hassle to physically connect with any cables. This helps to ensure timely, accurate entry of data into the EMR for improved patient safety and decision-making.

The device has a built-in Connex Scoring App that also helps to track and detect early signs of patient deterioration in hospital settings. The app uses a calculator structured around the hospitals own Early Warning Score (EWS) protocols to determine the likelihood of adverse events.

VITALITI Medical Monitor Helps Diagnose 15 Different Conditions
It promises to continuously record ECG, measure heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, BP, core body temperature and other relevant parameters.

As vitals are taken and additional patient data is input into the device, the Connex Scoring App produces an automated, colour-coded scoring result. Along with the instructions for intervention, which is specific to the facility, the app helps providers make informed patient care decisions quickly.
