Austrian Cafe to Serve Special Beer for Dogs Ahead of Munich Beer Festival

Man's best friend is about to get its own version of the famous Munich beer festival.

The Bunter Hund cafe in the Austrian capital Vienna has announced that it will be giving out special beer for canines, pretzels and traditional Bavarian veal sausage just like at the real Oktoberfest to any dogs that decide to pop in for a drink.

Cafe owner Manuela Knirsch, who is from Munich, said that while other breeds have to pay for their beer, the dachshunds will be getting it free, for it is Bavaria's favourite dog.

"We will even be giving out free beer to dachshunds, Bavaria's favourite dog," Ananova quoted Knirsch, as saying.

The dog Oktoberfest starts on September 20 - two days before the famous beer festival in Munich gets underway.
