In what is a landmark achievement, Appollo Hospitals has completed 25,000 bypass surgeries. Dr Prathap C Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group was present in Chennai to mark the occasion.

Nearly 90 percent of the coronary techniques involve beating heart surgeries and Appollo has performed some 10,000 such surgeries. "This has resulted in a very significant reduction of post operative complications and a reduction in hospital mortality to around 0.6 percent," said Dr Reddy.

Dr M R Girinath, chief cardio vascular surgeon also spoke on the occasion and said safety was of paramount importance to the team,

"We train new surgeons, cardiologists, anesthetists and paramedical staff for the future.
