Antibiotic Resistance May Threaten Public Health
Antibiotics are drug substances produced from microorganisms and are essential to fight against bacterial infections.
According to the data collected from World Health Organization, resistance to antimicrobial drugs develop mainly due to the overuse of antibiotics in hospitals.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that more than 2 million people in the United States have developed antibiotic resistance.

Scientists, physicians and health care professionals are more worried about antibiotic resistance. Frequent exposure of antibiotics to the bacteria can cause resistance.

Antibiotic resistance is a serious life threatening condition when compared to Zika or Ebola virus.

Around 80,000 people in Thailand are found to develop antibiotic resistance each year.

Over the counter medicines are the main cause of resistance to drugs. The Health Ministry of the government has setup national strategy to deal with resistance.
