The 21-year-old student from Seattle, US said: ‘They told me it was positive and they said I had AIDS. I was left shocked. I didn’t know how that could be possible.
‘They told me to think about it hard and so I wrote in my diary about all the partners I had had.’ When asked by her lawyer Carlo Dalla Vedova how many - she said: ‘Seven. I was going through them and saying I made love to him, well he can’t have it and he can’t have it.’

CCTV footage clearly shows Knox and Raffaele Sollecito laughing and kissing as they picked out underwear. Knox, who calls herself Foxy Knoxy, and doctor's son Sollecito, were overheard by a shopkeeper as they browsed through underwear in a clothes shop selling fashion items.
Carlo Maria Scotto di Rinaldi spoke to police two days after the couple were arrested on November 6, after recognising them on the television news. "They came into the shop and were there for about 20 minutes," he said. "The girl bought a camisole and G-string.
"I heard her as she was choosing the underwear - particularly the G-string - and as they were ready to pay, in front of the till, she whispered, 'Afterwards I'm going to take you home so we can have wild sex together'."
Mr Di Rinaldi said the couple behaved in a way that other shoppers noted was "exhibitionist".
Just two months into the medieval city, on Nov.2, 2007, Meredith Kercher was found semi-naked, with her throat slashed in a hillside cottage she shared with Ms Knox and two Italian women. Her body bore more than 40 injuries.
In the days following the murder prosecutors arrested Miss Knox, her former boyfriend and Italian Raffaele Sollecito, 24, and Rudy Guede, 21, a drifter and immigrant from the Ivory Coast. Sollecito is an IT student from a wealthy southern Italian family.
The prosecution maintains that Kercher died during what began as a sex game, with Sollecito pinning her down while Miss Knox touched her with the point of a knife and Guede sexually assaulted her. Knox then allegedly stabbed the young British woman in the throat.
"When I closed my eyes, I could only see red," Guede wrote in an account for the police after his arrest. "I have never seen so much blood. All of that blood on her beautiful face."
Ms Knox told police that she had covered her ears in the kitchen to block out Ms Kercher's screams. A year later the African was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 30 years in jail.
But Judge Paolo Micheli ruled that there was enough evidence to send Knox and Sollecito to trial on charges of murder and aggravated sexual assault.
Sollecito and Knox have also been accused of simulating a break-in by smashing a window and theft of cash and credit cards.
Separately Guede ha also begun his appeal, claiming Ms Knox had killed Ms Kercher in a row over stolen cash.
On Thursday, the second day of her testimony, Ms. Knox said she had seen Miss Kercher afternoon at their shared home.
'She left her room, said "bye", walked out the door,' she said. 'That was the last time I saw her.'
Asked about police claims she did cartwheels and the splits while waiting to be quizzed, she said: "It was my way of relaxing and lightening the situation."
Cross-examined by prosecutors, Amanda Knox said a policewoman had hit her twice on the head during interrogation after Miss Kercher was found dead. Knox also claimed police pressure caused her initially to accuse Diya 'Patrick' Lumumba, a Congolese man who owns a pub in Perugia, of being the culprit. Lumumba was jailed briefly in the case, but was later cleared and is seeking defamation damages from Knox.
She claimed she was warned by Italian police that she would be sent to prison for 30 years if she did not tell the truth over the murder.
'It was always a crescendo,' she said recalling her early questioning sessions. 'When I said I was with Raffaele all the time they told me I was a liar. I was scared, I thought: maybe they are right.'
Knox answered questions confidently and in a steady voice, sitting at the witness stand with a prison guard behind her. Though she had an interpreter next to her, the American spoke in fluent Italian, which she mostly learned in the year and a half she has spent in jail.
The trial, which is expected to last at least until October, continues.
Ironically Giuliano Mignini conducting the case against Ms.Knox and Sollecito, a high-profile prosecutor in Italy, is himself currently under investigation by a court in Florence for professional misconduct and abuse of office, including wiretapping journalists, in a separate case.
He is due to be sentenced on Monday and if found guilty could face up to 10 months in prison, although he would almost certainly launch an immediate appeal and continue to prosecute the murder trial.
Miss Knox's supporters in the United States have said he is not fit to lead the prosecution and that the initial investigation was "a railroad job from hell".
They say that the scenario that he has constructed, in which Miss Knox and her boyfriend allegedly murdered Miss Kercher because she refused to take part in a drug-fuelled orgy, is total fantasy.
