Alternative Weight Loss Methods Endorsed by Celebrities Found to be a Gimmick
Alternative medicine to aid weight loss may amount to fighting a losing battle, a UK researcher who spent years studying such weight loss methods has revealed.
The much touted Hollywood celebrities’ secrets to staying slim are all just hogwash. So, the acupuncture, green tea supplements and natural diet pills as a way to stay slim may not work at all, and in some cases can cause serious side effects.

The tall claims of such methods to burn fat have duped many and are not without side effects as it is often claimed to be. Not only are such methods financially draining, many of them can also cause serious side-effects. In some cases they can be life threatening too.

Professor Ernst's past research had evaluated the efficacy of green tea, acupuncture and calcium supplements.

"People who want to lose weight are often extremely desperate and ready to try anything," he said. "They are thus easy victims of the irresponsible promises that are being made on the internet and elsewhere. Despite the overwhelmingly evidence to the contrary, consumers are led to believe that alternative slimming aids are effective."

Unfortunately, there are no short cuts to weight loss. It is better to avoid putting on weight in the first place. "The main principles of losing weight are the obvious ones — you need to burn more calories than you take in," he said. "You've got to limit your food intake and increase your energy output. That's the cold, hard facts. If you want to lose weight, you should seek advice and guidance from reputable practitioners in the field."

No free lunches, absolutely!
