Aiyar’s Condition Stable After Mild Heart Attack

Union minister Mani Shankar Aiyar suffered a mild heart attack and was rushed to the Apollo Hospital here Wednesday where hospital sources described his condition as stable.

Aiyar, the minister for panchayati raj, youth affairs and sports, was visiting his constituency Mayiladuturai, 450 km from here, when he complained of chest pain Tuesday. He was taken to Tiruchirapally by ambulance, where he was kept on observation and flown to Chennai Wednesday morning.

The minister's condition is stabilising, said sources.

Doctors here said that the Congress MP, who had come to meet party leaders here, could be taken to New Delhi Thursday.
