Air India Plans All Women Flights To Mark International Women's Day

Air India has organised flights with all women crew together with women dispatchers, women load and trim staff, women engineers, women staff at check-in counters, women doctor for crew breathalyser test, women staff for security checks and women conducting LOSA safety audit on the occasion of International Women's Day tomorrow.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation will felicitate women aviators, who have contributed significantly to the civil aviation in India, on the occasion of International Women's day.

International Women�s Day 2011: Women and Wellness
On International Women’s Day 2011 Dr. Gita Arjun discussed the importance of empowering and encouraging women to pay attention to their health and increasing women’s awareness of wellness and fitness.

The women who will be felicitated are:-

Pioneer Pilots:

1. Late Capt Prem Mathur - First woman to obtain Commercial Pilot License.
2. Capt Durba Banerjee - First woman Commander of an airline.
3. Chanda Budhabhatti - Pioneer Pilot and Founder of Indian Women Pilots' Association.

International Women's Day 2011: 'Equal Access to Education, Training and Science & Technology: Pathway to Decent Work for Women'
“Equal access to education, training and science & technology” is the theme for International Women's Day 2011.

Airlines:

1. Bhubaneshwari Gautam - First woman Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
2. Capt Aruna Kandarpa - First woman Helicopter Pilot.
3. Harpreet A De Singh - First woman Technical Ground Instructor and First Head of Quality Management Systems of an airline.

International Women's Day 2010
International Women's Day is celebrated worldwide on 8th March. The theme for this year is Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities: Progress for All .

Uniting to End Violence - International Women's Day 2009
International Women’s Day 2009 will focus on fostering a genuine partnership between men and women to eliminate violent atrocities against women and girls.
