Babli Meena, a 38 year old Rajasthani woman and an Anganwadi worker, got lucky the 18th time, after 17 unsuccessful pregnancies. Each of her 17 pregnancies ended up as a premature delivery and worse still, the babies were unable to survive.
Babli gave birth to a baby girl recently and this is her 18th pregnancy. Fortunately this time, the baby has survived the initial 21 days and is under observation at a private hospital in Jaipur.
“You cannot imagine our happiness. We lost 17 babies one by one in premature delivery,” said the newborn’s father Ramkishore Meena, who works as a daily wager.
