A Thumb-Sized, $23 PC for School Kids - Coming Soon!
A thumb-sized computer for school children that a UK game developer has created will cost as little as 23 dollars.
David Braben has developed a tiny computer based around a USB stick called the Raspberry Pi.

With its USB port on one side and HDMI port on the other, it can function as a real PC. Having both those ports allows you to connect a keyboard and monitor respectively, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Surprisingly, there's enough room for a 700 MHz ARM11 processor, 128 MB of RAM and OpenGL graphics with enough power to display 1080p video.

The computer will give you the ability to browse the web at reasonable speeds and do basic PC tasks such as word processing.

Braben's little PC is versatile, too. There is a 12 megapixel camera module, an SD card slot for storage, and that's where you install the operating system of your choice such as Ubuntu or other open-source operating systems.

Braben hopes to roll out the first Raspberry Pi device within the next 12 months.
