A Robot to Care for Your Parents
A new robot developed at the University of Salford to care for the elderly.
"Carebot" P37 S65 can be programmed to remind elderly people to take medication and exercise, answer questions and even tell them jokes, the BBC reported.

Researcher Antonio Espingardeiro, who developed the robot, said that the robot could help improve residents' quality of life.

He said that the robot can recognise faces and recall the requirements of each patient.

It can also be programmed with speech therapy and object recognition exercises to help people, who are suffering from dementia.

The robot is also capable of acting as a video link to keep in touch with doctors and family, playing games and giving updates on the news.

The robot, which stands at about the height of a person, can also carry meals to residents.
