Drinking a glass of tomato juice daily helps in reducing the weight around the waist without making any other changes in the diet and lifestyle, revealed a study conducted at China Medical University in Taiwan.
During the study, 25 healthy women, aged 20-30, were asked to drink half-a-pint of tomato juice daily for eight weeks. Researchers found that the women lost nearly an inch off their waistlines, more than a pound in fat, and drops in the cholesterol by about 10 percent.
Nutritionist Azmina Govindji said, "Tomatoes could play a key role in controlling weight gain."
The study appears in the journal Nutrition.
