Kids who are the youngest in their class, no matter what the school year, face more stress and are at a greater risk of developing mental illness, a new study has found.

The finding is based on a survey of more than 10,000 British children between the ages of 5-15.

As a part of it, children, parents and teachers were questioned on all aspects - from their emotions to social behaviour and peer relations.

According to Forbes, the researchers conducting the survey found that those kids who are the youngest in their class face a greater incidence of mental health problems than their older classmates, reports the Daily Times.

The study stated that though the stress faced by these kids is not the kind that comes from family problems, trauma or being in an accident, but is the moderate kind which nevertheless poses a serious health threat.
