The Working SuperWomen Spend Twice As Much Time To Household Chores as Men Do

Since working women seem to bear the burden of household chores, it takes them more than twice as long to get to work as men.

According to a new UK survey, it takes an average man just 49 minutes to complete his morning chores before going out of the front door, while his female counterpart takes two hours and three minutes.

The survey of 2,000 workingwomen was conducted by Stylist magazine.

And with the school run she has to complete on her way home and the evening tasks, a woman's preparation for work takes a total three hours and fifteen minutes everyday.

Meanwhile, a man's "tasks to do the night before" take a mere eight minutes - bringing his total daily preparation for work to just 57 minutes.

In other words, working women do more than triple the amount as working men do on the home and hearth front.

"Women have a lot more to juggle now and there is still this stereotypical image of them doing the housework and the cooking," the Telegraph quoted Lisa Smosarski, editor of Stylist magazine, as saying.

"They don't feel put upon but it is more challenging as for most it is compulsory to go to work for financial reasons.

"But they have less time to relax. No wonder men breeze into work looking like freshly sprung daisies while women crawl in on their knees.

"Ever wondered why men look so fresh and relaxed when they breeze into work or a conference? Well, the answer is, all they've had to do is have a quick shower and get dressed. Women do the rest," she added.

The figures suggested that eight-in-ten working women with children feel as if they have 'already done a day's work before they even arrive at the office' (77 per cent).

Even 53 percent of those without kids feel they've done a day's work before collapsing into their office chair.

Eighty six percent women also think they "work harder in the office than men."

Overall, the average working woman spends 32 days a year just getting ready for work - including sorting herself, her children, her home and, more often than not, her husband.
