The new square "super tomato" which supposedly slows down the ageing process has now been unveiled to the world by Italian farmers.
Farmers said the new variety of the salad favourite contained high concentrations of lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that combats the effects of aging.
According to ANSA news agency, farmers claim that the tomato was produced by natural methods without genetic manipulations.
In true Italian style, the super tomato was first served up in a pasta sauce to the country's Economy Minister Giulio Tremonti, Agriculture Minister Giancarlo Galan and Labor Minister Maurizio Sacconi - who savoured it with a glass of Italian red wine.
"The anti-ageing super tomato is also effective in helping prevent cardiovascular diseases and tumours," the Australian quoted farmers union Coldiretti as saying.
