The New Love Mantra: Oral Hygiene

by Tanya Thomas on Jul 5 2008 5:32 PM

The enterprising Aussies have now found a reason for failure in love life! According to them, bad oral hygiene could be the culprit, for bad breath may be what’s keeping the love of your life at bay.

That’s the conclusion of a new Oz survey, which revealed that not having bad breath can get you success in love and life.

The survey, conducted by group pureprofile on behalf of dental products group Oral B, questioned 1001 people nationally and discovered that 96 per cent of Australians surveyed agreed that bad oral hygiene affected the enjoyment of kissing, reports Sydney Morning Herald.

Ninety-six per cent of the volunteers think breath that could kill a poodle at 20 paces affects the enjoyment of kissing.

Sixty-one per cent of respondents say they have stopped snogging someone because of "bad oral hygiene".

Break this statistic down along gender lines and women take a civilising step up (to 70 per cent) while men plummet to a grubby 54 per cent.

Bad oral hygiene can also, according to the survey, affect your career. So before your next date, remember to brush your teeth!
