When he emerged from coma a week later, doctors gave him the terrible news that the bolt had left him sterile.However, he proved them wrong, and is now expecting a baby with partner Hazel Topping, 39, on December 18.
'While I was in my coma it was feared I’d need the last rites. I’m ecstatic to have proved the doctors wrong. Look at us now,' The Sun quoted him, as saying.
'I’m so glad I didn’t give up on fatherhood. Now I look forward to just worrying about providing for my family,' he added.
The couple also plan to wed next March
