Genesis neuromodulator from St. Jude Medical is found to be effective in relieving chronic migraines, a recent study has shown. During the study, 157 patients habituated to suffering severe migraine for atleast 20 days in a month were implanted with this device. A control group with migraine patients was given a placebo.
The results revealed that close to 66 percent of participants in the active group that received the implants reported marked reduction in the headaches. Among the control group, only 17% reported relief from headaches.
Nearly 51% of participants in the active group reported high levels of satisfaction with the results of the neuromodulator as against 19% of the group that received the placebo.
