Sexuality Influenced by Genes, Hormones and Upbringing
Genetics, along with hormones and upbringing plays an important role in sexuality, according to a recent study.
Well-known traits of boys and girls which define the distinction between genders plays a role in sexuality as it is found that children who do not conform to these well-established traits may turn out to be gay or lesbian .

Nearly fifty to eighty percent of boys who did not conform to their gender traits turned out to be gay.

Researchers said, ‘We found that there is a connection between these mental traits and how sexual orientation develops. One idea is that there is an association between these psychological traits and sexual orientation because they all develop under common biological drivers; like the development of brain regions under the influence of genes and sex hormones. We think environmental factors and genetics drive other mechanisms, like exposure to sex hormones in the womb, to shape differences in gender nonconformity and sexuality simultaneously.’
