Ragging Claims Life

Sunny Kumar, a first year medical student of Bihar's Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), was driven to commit suicide after being ragged by seniors, claims his grieving family.

The young man was staying at a private lodge in Mahendru locality near the college campus. He had talked about his ordeal to his family and friends. His friend reports that he was very depressed and that he had come back to his room in tears the day before his death was discovered.

The police do not wish to state anything before the probe is complete, although an official at the Sultanganj police station did comment on the absence of a suicide note. The family has filed a complaint against the PMCH who has refused to accept responsibility.

The chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar has ordered a thorough investigation.
