Pets Cannot Take too Much Sun

by Savitha C Muppala on Aug 19 2009 10:35 PM

It is not uncommon to leave your pet in the car while you shop on a sunny day.

But Aileen White, communications director for the Winnipeg Humane Society warns that temperatures inside a vehicle can well go over 50 C which can trigger brain damage in your pet , leading to even death.

The same advice that holds good tor humans about avoiding the sun from 11am till 3pm holds good for pets as well.

It is good to walk your dog early mornings or in the evenings.

Age of the pet also plays a role. Those with thick coats and short noses should be adequately protected from the sun by keeping them in cooler places. A cool swim for the dogs may be the best bet to beat the heat.. Also give your pet plenty of water

The coolest part of your home is the best place for your pet on a hot day
