Nice Guys Make Less Money Than Aggressive Peers

by Rajashri on Aug 25 2009 12:22 AM

A new study has said that nice guys are paid an average of £1,500 a year less than those who are aggressive.

Researchers for the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Essex analyzed the lifestyle of over 3,000 men before arriving at this conclusion.

'"While agreeableness is penalised in the labour market, it may make a person more socially acceptable, increase their social networks and finally lead to better mental health and well-being," said study co-author Dr Alita Nandi.

The study found that those who were amiable earned 6% less than those who were aggressive in their dealings.
