Negligence Alleged as 21 Infants Die at BC Roy Hospital
The medical staff at BC Roy Hospital in Kolkata find themselves in trouble after 21 infants died over the last three days with distraught parents alleging negligence on part of the doctors.
Over 27 children have died in space of six days between June 24-June 30 forcing Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee to set up an inquiry committee and state that the government will be taking strict action if it finds any negligence on part of the doctors.

The parents and relatives have slammed the hospital authorities and claimed that doctors or nurses did not attend the children even when it was clear to see that the kids were suffering from critical ailments. A relative of one of the children who died, Mrs Abhida Khatoon said that the doctors ignored her pleas to admit the child even when the baby turned blue.

Many parents also alleged that the doctors and nurses misbehaved with one of the nurses beating up a woman who was trying to admit her child. Following the large number of deaths, the parents and relatives went on rampage, destroying the hospital furniture and blocking off the road for at least an hour before police resorted to lathi charge in order to disperse the crowd.
