Mortality Risk High for Anorexia Sufferers
A new study shows that among all other forms of eating disorders, anorexia sufferers carry a five fold risk of mortality.
Most victims of anorexia also suffer from depression, anxiety or obsessive compulsive disorder. The risk of death was found to be very high among victims of anorexia.

Nearly one out of five deaths among anorexia victims was because of suicide.

Lead author Jon Arcelus, from Loughborough University in the UK, said: 'Of course, eating disorders have serious physical consequences. The study could not identify how people died, but there is no doubt that the reasons behind this are related to the physical problems of the illness.'
