Millions of Patients Fail to Take Prescribed Drugs

by Rajashri on Aug 1 2008 4:05 PM

A survey by Lloydspharmacy has found that millions of patients are confused by the drugs prescribed to them and fail to take them on time.

“Our pharmacists have reported many instances when patients have been confused by their medicines,” said Andy Murdock, director of the Lloydspharmacy. “One patient set out a range of medicines and described the frequency and dosage for each. It turned out that for several months she had been taking a sleeping pill first thing in the morning.”

These findings come on the heels of new data from the NHS Information Centre which shows that prescriptions have risen by nearly 60 per cent in a decade.
