Meet The Farmer Who Has Not Bathed in 37 Years

A 65 year old farmer, Kailash Singh, from Chatav, India, and father of seven girls was completely taken up by what a priest told him and has not bathed in 37 years in order to conceive a son. His body has not touched water in the last 37 years, except to wash his mouth and hands. The priest had promised that such an austere step on the part of the farmer will please the Gods and he would be rewarded with a son.


All he does very ritualistically is a “fire bath” every night , when  he smokes marijuana  and prays to the Hindu God Lord Shiva by dancing around a bonfire.

His dreadlocks now measure six feet.  “Children tease me and my wife doesn’t like it, but she must bear all the hardships I have to bear.I have no son, so I will never wash again,”Kailash said.

His 60 year old wife Kalavati Devi, tried her best to get her husband to take a bath. Unable to bear the stench, she even resorted to extreme measures.

Explaining the steps she took, Kalavati said, “I abused him and cried when he told me about his senseless decision. I even threatened to stop sleeping with him but he is my husband so there was little I could do about it. He says he’d rather die than take a bath.”
