Man Brain-Damaged Due to Nurse Error
37-year-old Jamie Merrett was left brain-damaged after a nurse mistakenly turned off his life support system.
Tetraplegic Merrett had installed a camera in his bedroom as he was worried about the care he was receiving and alerted Wiltshire NHS about the same. The camera captured the incident where the nurse, Violetta Aylward, from Reading turned off his life support system accidentally.

Ms Aylward tried to resuscitate him in vain, but it was almost 21 minutes before the machine was turned on by paramedics. By that time Merrett had suffered serious brain damage.

Ambition 24hours, the firm which recruited the nurse, apparently did not have enough systems in place to check that the nurse was trained properly, the BBC reported
