Majority of Foreign Docs on NHS Unable to Speak Proper English
An NHS hospital in Burton upon Trent has said that majority of doctors from abroad are unable to speak proper English with many patients complaining that they cannot understand what the doctors say.
According to Jim Morrison, chairman of Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, many doctors struggle to grasp the language and some of them require the assistance of a nurse in order to make sure what they are to write in the paperwork.

Even though the British Medical Association has continued to push for stringent language tests to be undertaken before foreign doctors are hired, such a move would be in contravention of the freedom to travel and work law of the European Union.
