Omega-3 fatty acids are a great blessing for expectant mothers. A recent report presented at the Experimental Biology meeting found that omega-3 fatty acid consumed during pregnancy can cut risk of postpartum depression symptoms.
In a study, researchers asked 50 pregnant women to take either a fish oil capsule for 5 days a week or placebo.
Results clearly pointed to the benefits of fish oil consumption as women who consumed fish oil capsules scored markedly lower on postpartum depression screening tests.
