Liverpool to Get 3 New NHS Dentists

by Rajshri on Jun 2 2008 3:11 PM

Three new NHS dental practices will be launched in Liverpool with the intention to cater for 16,000 patients in the area.

The new move took place after it emerged that Liverpool youth have the worst dental health in the country.

Lesley Gough, who is the head of children’s dental services for Liverpool Primary Care Trust, said it was getting increasingly difficult to find NHS dentists for local people.

“We looked at NHS dental provision across Liverpool and found three areas where it was particularly difficult to see a dentist near to where you live," she added. “These practices have been set up in those areas where we identified problems with access and will make a huge difference to families seeking NHS dental treatment."

It is also reported that the new surgeries will have Saturday appointments and will also be open in the evenings.
