The finding was based on a study, conducted by extra-marital dating website IllicitEncounters.com, which analysed its 128,300 members who declared their star sign to draw up the results related to extra-marital affair.

Statistically, the research discovered 11.5 per cent were born under Cancer, 9.53 per cent under Aries and 8.99 per cent under Gemini but only 5.27 per cent were born under Virgo.

The study found that people under the star sign Cancer are most likely to have an affair. In addition, they are twice as likely to stray as Virgos who are the most loyal.

The second and third most likely to play away were - Aries and Gemini.

The study found that men aged 38 who run a business and women General Practitioner or healthcare staff aged 36 born between June 23 and July 23 are most likely to be cheating, or hoping to.

On the contrary, male farmers and female graphic designers born between August 24 and September 23 are least likely to stray away.

According to astrologers, those born under Cancer are most likely to hit it off with people born under Aquarius or Sagittarius. Virgos are most likely to have a successful long-term affair with Taureans or Capricorns,'The Sun quoted a spokeswoman for the site, as saying.

'Our research shows that around 35 per cent of married or partnered people aged 20 to 60 have a secret affair very much in mind whether they're in one, planning one or have had one.

'People are shying away from family-breaking divorces, but want a relationship with somebody they consider a true soulmate,' she added.
